The Libra Lounge

If you are a believer that there is no such thing as a coincidence, then it’s not by accident that music greats are born under the zodiac sign of Libra. These musicians represent just about every genre of music as we’ve come to know. It actually got a little overwhelming trying to mix all these artists on one playlist so I decided not to do that. I stayed in my wheelhouse and made this first Libra Lounge Vol I soulful and included artists from around the world.

Libra Lounge Vol I - I thought it appropriate to start this playlist off with a toast to my fellow Libran with Champagne Life by Ne-Yo (10/18) from his appropriately titled CD, Libra Scale. I finished the playlist with a song that used to be played on Detroit’s WJZZ and surmises what these artists probably think and that is Music is My Sanctuary by Gary Bartz (9/26). Songs #2 – 30 consist of artists from Eric Roberson to Fela Kuti and a couple feature a Libra collaboration, Say I by Christina Milian (9/26) featuring Jeezy (9/28) and T.I.’s (9/25) Ball featuring Lil Wayne (9/27). I also did a back to back with songs from emcees with the same birthday, Oct 3rd, Talib Kweli’s Won’t You Stay and Black Thought featuring himself as Reek Ruffin on Conception.

I chose some recent songs from some artists, but the majority of songs are from their catalog that really stuck out or were the songs that introduced me to them. I also took some liberty with one song. I Will Never Know is by Tall Black Guy featuring Moonchild, whose lead singer, Amber Navran (10/16), is a Libra. Besides, Tall Black Guy is a Detroit native so we killed two birds with one stone.

Vol II is to come no doubt because of the artists I didn’t include, but I was able to also create a Libra Jazz Parlor and solicited a little assistance for a Libra Hip-Hop Lounge playlist. Stay tuned…
